Human urine has strengthening and curative characteristics concerning many deficiencies. A mixture of potato and sulphur powder, mixed with heated, old urine helps against hair loss. One should rub this mixture into the scalp; this slows down loss of hair. All kinds of throat inflammation can be helped by gargling with urine to which a bit of saffron has been added. Trembling hands and knees can be helped by washing, and rubbing one's own warm urine into the skin directly after one has urinated. Drink your own water in the morning nine days together and it cures the scurvy, makes the body lightsome and cheerful. It is good against the dropsy and Jaundice, drunk as before. Wash your ears with it warm and it is good against deafness noises and nost other ailments in the ears. Wash your eyes with your own water and it cures sore eyes and clears and strengthens the sight. Wash and rub your hands with it and it take away numbness, chaps and sores and makes the joints limber. Wash any green wound with it and it is an extraordinary good thing. Wash any part that itches and it takes the itch away. More than any other method, urine therapy represents the principles of natural medicine. One's own urine is a specific medicine for anyone who is ill. It is made for him or her personally and is just right for what he or she needs at the present moment, because it changes its composition all the time.Keywords

The cosmetics industry is large, with sales over $200 billion. Personal care products are a growing part of the chemical industry worldwide. Compared to industries involved in nanotechnology, it is modest. Nanotechnology entered the field of comsetics and health products nearly 40 years ago with moisturing creams that used liposomes, a vesical of phospholipid layers with an aquaeus core. The applications of nanotechnology and nanomaterials can be found in many cosmetic products including moisturizers, hair care products, make up and sunscreen. Nanomaterials are now being used in leading cosmetic products, most commonly as chemicals used to give the protection in sunscreens. Encapsulation and carrier systems like liposomes, nanoemulsions, microemulsions or lipid nanoparticles serve to transport agents to deeper skin layers. Nanoparticles of titan dioxide and zinc oxide are used as UV filters in sunscreens. There is little evidence supporting the principle that smaller particles have greater effects on the skin or other tissues or produce novel toxicities relative to micro-sized materials. Overall, the current weight of evidence suggests that nano-materials such as nano-sized vesicles or TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles currently used in cosmetic preparations or sunscreens pose no risk to human skin or human health, although other Nano particle may have properties that warrant safety evaluation on a case-by-case basis before human use. Recently, concerns over the safety of such nanocosmetics are raised and have forced the cosmetic industries to limit the use of nanotechnology in cosmetics and for enforcing laws to undergo a full-fledged safety assessment before they enter into the market. In this review, emphasis is made on the types of nanomaterials used in cosmetics by the various cosmetic brands, the potential risks caused by them both to human life and also to the environment and what all regulations have been undertaken or can be taken to overcome them.Keywords

Infections of the respiratory tract are perhaps the most common human aliment. While they are a source of discomfort, disability and loss of time for most adults, they are a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality in young children and the elderly. Many of these infections run their natural course in older children and in adults without specific treatment and without complications. However, in young infants, small children and in the elderly, or in persons with impaired respiratory tract reserves, it increases the morbidity and mortality rates. Acute respiratory tract infections are the most common illnesses in childhood, comprising as many as 50% of all illnesses in children less than 5 years old and 30% in children aged 5 - 12 years. Multiple factors determine the frequency and nature of these illnesses. These include host factors, environmental factors and infecting agents. The common acute respiratory tract infections will be individually discussed, highlighting the diagnostic features and current management guidelines.Keywords

Aim: Formulation and Evaluation of Efavirenz 600 mg Tablet.
Methodology: Accurately weighed amount of selected additive concentrates (F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6) representing 600 mg equivalent of drug was mixed with directly compressible excipients i.e. Croscarmellose Sodium and Sodium Starch Glycolate as superdisintegrants, Talcum as diluents and microcrystalline cellulose as diluents. Obtained mixture was subjected for wet granulation. Water was added and mixed thoroughly to form dough mass. The mass was passed through mesh no. 12 to obtain wet granulation. The wet granules were dried at 60° C for 4 hours. Dried granules were passed through mesh no. 16 to break aggregates. Lubricants talcum and magnesium stearates were passed through mesh no. 100 on to dry granules and blended in a closed polyethylene bag. The tablet granules were compressed by using 16 station tablet compression machine (electrical Motor-Crompton Greaves and A.C. Drives-Siemens) to a hardness of 5-6 kg/cm2 using 9 mm flat punches. In each case 500 tablets were compressed. Prepared tablets were collected in a poly bag.
Results: Evaluation of developed formulation for various pre-compression and post-compression parameters was found to be within pharmacopoeial limits.
Pre-compression parameters of the formulation- Pre-compression parameters were characterized on the basis of their physical parameters. Bulk density (0.338 g/ml), Tapped density (0.458 g/ml), Compressibility ratio (23.89 %), Hausner's ratio (1.38).
Post-compression parameters: Weight variation, hardness and friability pass U.S.P. specification. Tablets of all formulation showed good physical appearance, disintegration test indicated that the tablets of all formulation were dissolved in desire time. Disintegration time of all the formulation have to be less than 45 minute. Disintegration time of the various formulation were found in following order in min F5 (8.10±0.39)>F6 (8.15±0.42)>F3 (8.33±0.43)> F2 (8.35±0.46)> F4 (8.37±0.47)> F1 (8.40±0.43).
This is due to F5 and F6 contain maximum concentration of superdisintegrants (CCS-8.5%, SSG-9.2%), than followed by other formulation. Weight variation tests, hardness and friability test indicated that, tablets of all formulation were having good compactness and mechanical strength and passes U.S.P. specification.
In-vitro dissolution studies revealed that the release rate of Efavirenz coated tablets were found to be in following order F6>F5>F4>F3>F2>F1. This is due to F6 contain maximum concentration of superdisintegrants concentration.

Panchgavya is a term used to describe five major substances, obtained from cow, which include cow's urine, milk, ghee, curd and dung. All the five products possess medicinal properties against many disorders and are used for the medicinal purpose singly or in combination with some other herbs. This kind of treatment is called Panchgavya therapy or cowpathy. Panchgavya Therapy has been proposed as an alternate prophylactic and therapeutic approach for sound livestock and poultry health along with safeguarding human health. Its antimicrobial properties have gained the attention of the medical and veterinary professionals. Cow urine concoction (CUC) is having anticonvulsant and hypoglycemic effects; and useful against liver disorders and fever; inflammations and anemia. Cow milk is considered as a healthy food and is found to be effective in curing fever and pain; tumors; diabetes; kidney disorders and weaknesses and importantly act as a medium to administer medicine. Curd (dahi) is a blood purifier, and found useful in blood related problems; piles and gastro-intestinal disorders. Cow ghee has immunostimulatory properties. The application of cow dung to kill the germs of malaria and tuberculosis along with its antifungal properties require special mention. The Panchgavya products also show many other applications viz. excellent agricultural applications in the form of biofertilizers, vermicompost and biopesticides, which improves soil fertility and provide food grains free from the health hazards of using chemical fertilizers/pesticides. A systematic work needs to be carried out on chemical nature, biological activity, microbiology and pharmaceutical aspects and mechanism of bioactive compounds in Panchgavya. In the past due emphasis has not been given to the cow therapy which needs attention of scientific community.Keywords

Diabetes mellitus (DM), both insulin-dependent DM (IDDM) and non-insulin dependent DM (NIDDM) is a common and serious metabolic disorder throughout the world. Traditional plant treatments have been used throughout the world for the therapy of diabetes mellitus. Among many medications and other alternative medicines, several herbs have been known to cure and control diabetes; additionally they have no side effects. The present paper is an attempt to list of the plants with anti-diabetic and related beneficial effects originating from different parts of world. History showed that medicinal plants have been used in traditional healing around the world for a long time to treat diabetes; this is because such herbal plants have hypoglycemic properties and other beneficial properties, as reported in scientific literature. The medicinal plants, besides having natural therapeutic values against various diseases and considerable works have been done on these plants to treat diabetes mellitus, describes that the antidiabetic activity of medicinal plants is due to the presence of phenolic compounds, avonoids, terpenoids, coumarins and other constituents which show reduction in blood glucose levels. Some of these herbal plants and their active chemical constituents which have a role in the management of diabetes mellitus are compiled here and discussed in this review.Keywords

Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine: It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance healthcare treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy. Much of the work in biomedical engineering consists of research and development, spanning a broad array of subfields. Prominent biomedical engineering applications include the development of biocompatible prostheses, various diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices ranging from clinical equipment to micro-implants, common imaging equipment such as MRIs and EEGs, regenerative tissue growth, pharmaceutical drugs and therapeutic biological. But more often, sub-disciplines within BME are classified by their association(s) with other more established engineering fields, which can include:
• Biochemical-BME, based on Chemical engineering - often associated with biochemical, cellular, molecular and tissue engineering, biomaterials, and biotransport.
• Bioelectrical-BME, based on Electrical engineering and Computer Science - often associated with bioelectrical and neural engineering, bioinstrumentation, biomedical imaging, and medical devices. This also tends to encompass optics and optical engineering - biomedical optics, bioinformatics, imaging and related medical devices.
• Biomechanical-BME, based on Mechanical engineering - often associated with biomechanics, biotransport, medical devices, and modeling of biological systems, like soft tissue mechanics.
RoHS seeks to limit the dangerous substances in circulation in electronics products, in particular toxins and heavy metals, which are subsequently released into the environment when such devices are recycled. IEC 60601-1-11 (2010) must now be incorporated into the design and verification of a wide range of home use and point of care medical devices along with other applicable standards in the IEC 60601 3rd edition series.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is an inherited connective tissue disease causing blisters in the skin and mucosal membranes, with an incidence of 1/50,000. Its severity ranges from mild to lethal. The skin is extremely fragile: minor mechanical friction or trauma will separate the layers of the skin and form blisters. People with this condition have an increased risk of cancers of the skin, and many will eventually be diagnosed with it as a complication of the chronic damage done to the skin. The skin has three layers; the outermost layer is the epidermis, and the middle layer is the dermis. In individuals with healthy skin, there are protein anchors between the layers that prevent them from moving independently from one another (shearing). In people born with EB, these top skin layers lack the protein anchors that hold them together, and any action that creates friction between them (like rubbing or pressure) will create blisters and painful sores.
